Promoting Your Online Business

May 12th, 2008 · No Comments

Online businesses and affiliate programs are now fairly easy to join and market. Unfortunately most people will setup a website but never follow it through to a big payday. People setup a website, throw up a few banners and then whine about their lack of results.

Running a successful business is easier for very high traffic sites. They have a lot of visitors daily and some of those visitors will buy the products. For everyone else it’s a bit harder to succeed. We have to use other methods to get visitors and sales. That’s where most online businesses fail - they don’t seriously market and get the sales they need for success.

An easy way to get traffic is to use PPC ads like those on Google Adwords. You can get traffic to your site in under ten minutes. Making sales to those visitors may be  bit more difficult though. Your Adwords expenses may be more than your net profits, or the visitors will not buy if they are not properly targeted. Perhaps another site offered nicer bonuses or more help than you offered - there can be a variety of reasons for not making sales.

Writing articles is a very successful way to bring visitor to your site. It can be a free method of promotion, if you don’t put a value on the time you spend writing. Your articles attract visitors for a long time and are well worth the time spent writing them. Draw up a schedule for writing articles and carry it through. Even if every article only brings in 5 or 10 visitors a day, after several months and many articles, you could easily have 200 or more free visitors every single day.

You could out-source your article writing if you wanted. If you’re short of time, inclination or talent to produce numerous good articles, you can hire another writer to do it for you. The article quality may not be as good as yours, but the quantity produced will easily overcome that hurdle. Do a quick proof read and edit the articles if needed. This will allow you to create many new articles that you can call your own in a short time.

Another almost new promotion method is using Web 2.0 sites for promotion and marketing. You can build large networks of interlinked websites hosted by someone else for free. Is that brilliant or what? You have no hosting costs - you create the content and make the sales. That’s a great way to leverage the power of the Internet to your own advantage and your own profit.
